Our Parent Community

Our Parent Community

Welcome to a community dedicated to giving young women the skills they need to reach their full potential.  Parents are an essential component of life at GMS; contributing to their own daughter’s well-being and success, as well as that of all girls at the school.

Parents’ talents and skills bring richness to the girls’ educational experiences. The Girls' Middle School offers its parent community opportunities for involvement that extend far beyond the usual scope – as an entrepreneurial coach, intersession teacher, sports team coach, etc.

Teachers and administration at GMS believe that clear communication and dialogue between school and home is necessary for every girl to achieve her best. Advisors get to know both students and their families and meet at least twice each year with parents to go over their daughter’s narrative evaluations and discuss her progress.

One key component of GMS’s Social and Emotional Learning curriculum is the annual series of parent education nights. Experts in the field are brought to GMS to speak on a variety of developmental concerns related to parenting adolescents. All lectures are simultaneously translated into Spanish.

The Girls’ Middle School Parent Association is composed of all parents in the GMS community. The Parent Association participates in fundraising activities and organizes both social and educational gatherings for the school. All parents of GMS students are encouraged to attend the monthly Parent Association meetings to discuss ideas or concerns, gather feedback from other parents, and develop and maintain the strong sense of community that exists at The Girls’ Middle School.
