Dear 2013 Families,

Welcome to The Girls’ Middle School! We have created this welcome page to answer the many logistical questions that you may have as your daughter makes the transition to GMS. In addition to the information provided on this welcome page, your family will also receive two mailings over the course of the summer. If you have further questions we encourage you to contact us. However, please be aware that summer office hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and GMS is closed from July 19 – 30, 2010.

Getting Ready

6th Grade Supply List

There are two school supply lists below.  The only differences between the two lists are the supplies needed for Spanish class.  Students who are fluent speakers of Spanish or were in a Spanish immersion program should use the Fluent Spanish Speakers supply list.

Enrollment Forms and Change of Address

Valerie Adelsheim is the Registrar for GMS. You should receive a mailing of important forms in mid-July. Please be sure to submit these forms by August 13th. If you have any questions or your contact information changes please notify Valerie (650.968.8338 ext. 112 or vadelsheim@girlsms.org).

Uniforms

Jennifer Horton is in charge of ordering everyone’s uniform. Incoming 6th graders will have the opportunity to try on the selection of tee shirts, sweat shirts, and jackets available at the New Family Picnic. Uniforms will be available to be picked up on Workday, August 21, 2010 at 12:30. If you have further questions, contact Jennifer (650.968.8338 ext 100 or jhorton@girlsms.org).

After School Activities

GMS offers a variety of after school opportunities for your daughter, including sports (softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams) and after school homework club (a quiet space for completing homework), and organized after school activities including drama and math circles. All of these programs run from 3:30 to 5:00 pm with the exception of Friday. You will receive information about how to sign up for after school activities during the first week of school. Transportation To and From the Train Station
