Admission Process

To complete the application process, please follow the steps listed below. Most importantly, feel free to contact our admission office at any time if you have questions or need assistance.

 
 
1.      Open House
The Open House is an opportunity for both parents and daughters to learn about The Girls’ Middle School directly from the faculty and a panel of current students. The Admission Open Houses are Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 1 – 4 pm and Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 7 – 9 pm.  Please make a reservation! RSVP to Open House and Request an Application.
 
2.      Shadow Visit
Shadow visits are an opportunity for your daughter to visit GMS and experience a typical day at the school. Shadow visits are scheduled during the fall and winter. Please contact the admission office to schedule a visit for your daughter.
 
3.      Application for Admission
We are happy to mail you an admission packet, or you can simply download the application by clicking the links below.
Application
The application deadline for Fall 2010 is January 14, 2010. Please complete the application and mail it, along with the $75 application fee. 
 
Parent
Questionnaire
We ask that each parent or guardian living with the applicant complete a questionnaire.  Parent Questionnaire
 
Teacher
Recommendations
We require two teacher recommendations, one from the applicant’s current teacher and one from last year’s teacher. The teachers must send the forms directly to GMS. Teacher Recommendation
 
Principal or
Counselor Recommendation
We require input from a school principal or counselor as part of the admission process.  The principal or counselor must send the form directly to GMS. Principal Recommendation
 
Personal
Recommendation
In addition to your daughter’s teachers, we would like to hear from another adult who plays a significant role in her life. The individual might be, for example, a music teacher, athletic coach, or religious advisor. The individual recommending the applicant must send the form directly to GMS. Personal Recommendation
 
Transcript Release

Please complete the transcript release form and submit it to the principal’s office at your daughter’s school. Transcript Request
 
 
4.      Testing
We require that applicants submit the results of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). GMS will offer the ISEE on Saturday, January 16, 2010. You must register your daughter three weeks prior to the test date. The ISEE exam may be taken at any test site location. The Girls’ Middle School ISEE Site Code is #054273. To register online, go to www.iseetest.org or you may mail in the registration form included in the Admission Application packet.
 
5.      Interview
Once the application is complete, we will contact you in January to schedule a family interview, which are held from January 25 to February 26, 2010.  All parents or guardians must attend with their daughter. The interview lasts approximately 45 minutes, with the last 15 minutes set aside for one-on-one time with the applicant. We ask that she bring something that is special or meaningful for her to share during this part of the interview.
 
6.      Application for Financial Aid (if applicable)
If you would like to apply for financial aid, please return the request for financial aid information form as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is February 12, 2010. For more information about Financial Aid please see  Financial Aid.
