Frequently Asked Questions About Financial Aid and The Scholarship Program
What is the likelihood that I will receive financial aid or a scholarship at The Girls’ Middle School?
Financial aid is granted based on family need as demonstrated by the completed financial aid application. Each year approximately 40 families apply for financial aid or a scholarship making the process a competitive one. Families who qualify for financial aid but do not receive assistance may be placed on a financial aid waitlist, or they may elect to seek other funding sources.
Who qualifies for financial aid?
Even if you are a homeowner or you think your income is too high to qualify for financial aid, you may still be eligible. If the tuition does not look affordable to you, it may be worth your time and effort to apply for financial aid for your daughter’s education.
What if my child has assets?
A portion of a student’s assets will be taken into consideration.
Is help available to fill out the financial aid form?
If you have questions or would like assistance filling out the form, contact Holly Zuklie in the Financial Aid Office at 650.968.8338, ext. 133 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How is my ability to pay evaluated if I am separated or divorced?
GMS must consider all relevant family resources when financial aid is requested. We may need to ask for additional information.
Who will see the financial information I/we provide?
Only the GMS Financial Aid Committee and the Student Service for Financial Aid (NAIS) will review the information you provide. Otherwise, GMS will hold your financial records in strict confidence.
Will my request for financial aid affect my daughter’s chances of being accepted at GMS?
No. We make admission decisions independent of a student’s application for financial aid. This means that a student may receive a letter of acceptance to GMS but not receive a financial aid award. Families may then seek other funding sources.
Will GMS provide financial aid every year my daughter is enrolled at GMS?
GMS intends to provide financial assistance as long as a family demonstrates need and the student meets school requirements. Families must reapply for financial aid each year.
When will we know whether our daughter will receive financial aid or a scholarship?
Although acceptance for admission is determined before financial aid is awarded, both decisions will be sent on March 16, 2017, provided that your forms are completed on time.
The deadline for the Financial Aid Application is February 10, 2017
